Zachary started Nursery 2 at Chiltern House Mountbatten on 04 Jan 2012! Babe has grown so much.. there are too much to learn at school this year and I as mummy felt overwhelmed!
There's chinese to learn to read and write and I can't help him in this area.. only hope is hubby can be more pro-active in guiding him otherwise it will be additional Mandarin classes.
More books to read - there's early readers, library books and Oxford Reading Tree which will officially start at Term 3.
There are a few changes which I made to Zachary's routine starting 2012 and so far he's been coping well with it..
1. Waking up at 7am every weekday and taking a room temperature shower. I believe some 'cold' water is good for his body
2. Taking responsibility in ensuring his socks, water bottle, books and items for Show & Tell is in his school bag. Though I still need to remind him a few times before he actually does it but it's progressing from telling him 4 times to 2 times (this morning..haha)
3. Taking his school shoe from the shoe cabinet and wearing it on his own by 7.25am - of course this need me to prompt him "Zach, please take your school shoe and wear it."
4. Upon reaching school, he'll have his temperature and usual checks for ulcers etc. Then he will proceed to his own classroom. He will then take out his water bottle, communication book and library booklet to be placed into respective basket - kudos to Teacher Jermaine for instilling this good habit. I am very proud to see Zachary and his little friends able to do this routine every morning without fail! Zachary will then take out his own socks and go to the blue mat and wear it on his own.
5. We try to reach home by 8pm every weekday and Zachary will then take out his dirty clothes, socks and water bottle and put them away - laundry basket and kitchen sink. He will then take out all his school books and I will go through every page with him from beginning - cultivating this habit at early stage so that when he enters Primary 1 he will have no problem revising work from Day 1. During this hour, no TV is allowed.
6. Only at 9pm will he get to play with his toys..for 45 minutes. 9.45pm is wipe down time and then milk and proceed to the room to 'nua' and sleep by 10.30pm! A few hits and misses but nothing beyond 11pm..
I only allow late sleeping on Friday night and Saturday night but so far he did not needed them because it seems to be in his body clock that by 11pm he need to sleep. :)
After Chinese New Year, we have to start on some workbook fun - joining the dots, practising his ABC, coloring etc on top of his reading books and playing cars.
Did I share that I have completely taken Zachary off the iPad and iPhone? He whines about it at first but after a few days he don't seem to crave for it - even when my iPad is lying next to him, he doesn't bother asking for it because he know what the answer will be.."No babe..no iPad for you remember?"
