Zach's Sports Day

I've calculated.. I need to attend another 2 of his Sports Day. There is Kieran too that will join his brother in 2014.. So in total another 5 more years under the scorching hot sun!

Water is necessary to keep him hydrated!

Happy that he receives his rosette. A job well done boy!!

Nonetheless, we all had fun!

I was secretly happy Zach did not went through the terrible two stage but the moment he turned 3, my nightmare began!!
What happened to the sweet little baby? What I see is a stubborn little boy.. Somehow seem lost at times. When I talk to him, he's not there his mind was wandering elsewhere and I can see it from his eyes that he wasn't interested.
What must I do to guide him? I've had enough of teachers note saying "need to focus more in class" "need to practise more". What will happen if he's at primary where he'll no longer be treated as the youngest in class!?!

Crossroads

Been awhile since I last posted under Zachary's blog..
Have been thinking alot about future.. I.e schools, enrichment, schedule yada yada yada..
My brain is full of ideas, thoughts plans but how do I piece all of these together into one that will work?
My ultimate goal? To hv the boys be home at respectable time (7.30pm?!) so that I can have more time with both of them as individual.
As Zach is growing older, it's also the time to set a routine for him.. There's alot for him to catch up and learn. Well, the learning journey is always endless, isn't it?
Getting a maid? Putting him in full day childcare? I've got to weigh all these carefully.

Baby, mummy loves you and naturally when loves overflow it turn to over-protective. Sigh.. But I want nothing more than the best for you.

Nursery 2

Zachary started Nursery 2 at Chiltern House Mountbatten on 04 Jan 2012! Babe has grown so much.. there are too much to learn at school this year and I as mummy felt overwhelmed!
There's chinese to learn to read and write and I can't help him in this area.. only hope is hubby can be more pro-active in guiding him otherwise it will be additional Mandarin classes.
More books to read - there's early readers, library books and Oxford Reading Tree which will officially start at Term 3.
There are a few changes which I made to Zachary's routine starting 2012 and so far he's been coping well with it..
1. Waking up at 7am every weekday and taking a room temperature shower. I believe some 'cold' water is good for his body
2. Taking responsibility in ensuring his socks, water bottle, books and items for Show & Tell is in his school bag. Though I still need to remind him a few times before he actually does it but it's progressing from telling him 4 times to 2 times (this morning..haha)
3. Taking his school shoe from the shoe cabinet and wearing it on his own by 7.25am - of course this need me to prompt him "Zach, please take your school shoe and wear it."
4. Upon reaching school, he'll have his temperature and usual checks for ulcers etc. Then he will proceed to his own classroom. He will then take out his water bottle, communication book and library booklet to be placed into respective basket - kudos to Teacher Jermaine for instilling this good habit. I am very proud to see Zachary and his little friends able to do this routine every morning without fail! Zachary will then take out his own socks and go to the blue mat and wear it on his own.
5. We try to reach home by 8pm every weekday and Zachary will then take out his dirty clothes, socks and water bottle and put them away - laundry basket and kitchen sink. He will then take out all his school books and I will go through every page with him from beginning - cultivating this habit at early stage so that when he enters Primary 1 he will have no problem revising work from Day 1. During this hour, no TV is allowed.
6. Only at 9pm will he get to play with his toys..for 45 minutes. 9.45pm is wipe down time and then milk and proceed to the room to 'nua' and sleep by 10.30pm! A few hits and misses but nothing beyond 11pm..

I only allow late sleeping on Friday night and Saturday night but so far he did not needed them because it seems to be in his body clock that by 11pm he need to sleep. :)

After Chinese New Year, we have to start on some workbook fun - joining the dots, practising his ABC, coloring etc on top of his reading books and playing cars.

Did I share that I have completely taken Zachary off the iPad and iPhone? He whines about it at first but after a few days he don't seem to crave for it - even when my iPad is lying next to him, he doesn't bother asking for it because he know what the answer will be.."No babe..no iPad for you remember?"

Concert

Yeap.. Another musical concert for mummy & I.
I saw the ad from TV and been telling her I wanted to go Mickey Mouse Hotel (he meant Disneyland) but that's hard to fulfill. This is the best I can do at this moment.

It was nice with acts from Aladdin & the Magic Lamp, The Little Mermaid and Toy Story. Mummy enjoyed herself with all the songs which she is so familiar with.
During the show Mickey and friends kept waving at us cos we were seated 4th row from the stage and it was unblocked!
Towards the end Mickey gave me a handshake and a pat on my cheek too. *beam*

Fear

I had the biggest scare in my life yesterday!
It was just a normal Sunday morning for us..we went Tampines for brunch and hair cut for Yong Teck & Zachary.
As we were going down the escalator, I heard a rubber screeching sound and my first instinct was to pull Zachary away. I am not sure why I did that..My mind was so pre-occupied during that time because my younger boy was fussing in the stroller (what's new?). The next thing I know Zach is crying not because he was in pain but because his shoes were spoilt and covered with oil!! Talk abt having an affair with his shoes. The moment he cried the younger bro cried even louder.. I tell you, it was super chaotic!! I should just resolute to stay home till Kieran is much older and don't fuss that much.
I regress, Zach is at the age where he will not listen to what we say! Stubborn streak is appearing.. He's testing my patience over and over again.. I have told him countless time do not place his leg on the side of the escalator - I actually told him every time we took the escalator except for yesterday and I hit the jackpot? How lucky can one get?
I thank God for his luck.. only his shoes were torn and he escaped unscathed! He can recount what happened shortly after that and he knew it was his fault so I really hope lesson was learnt! I do not want him to lose any of his limbs in order to learn a lesson.. It will be too much to lose.
I could not bring myself to sleep last night - kept hugging him, rubbing his feet and toes to make sure he is really alright! Contemplating to wake hb up to tell him I am worried but I guess I am just being a mummy!

Party!

Zach's school made it a point to have class party every 5 weeks so that the kids and teachers can let their hair down and have FUN!
This week's theme is green. As with all kids they hate their greens so I bought Vitagen, low sugar naturally in GREEN APPLE!
To make the kids happy, I also made a batch of Horlicks 'Doggies' cookies. It was a craze few years back.

Very easy to make with less than 3 minutes. It's the decoration part that's exhausting. The cookies smell like Famous Amos' but taste awesome.. No added sugar.
Try it!

Loving Kieran. Post dinner activities. Trial @ Lorna Whiston. Zoo with friends. Dinner @ Sushi Tei. Bubblebath. Haircut. Reading time. More bubblebath.

Little Rabbit

YouTube Video

Though he's not very clear in his pronunciation I can still understand what he's trying to sing. :)
